Gorge Heroes Club Teams -
Do you have a couple hours of free time each month? GHC is now forming teams and welcome your volunteer efforts to help our Hometown Heroes. Some of these teams only require a few hours per month and some require a bit more time. If you are interested in joining a team or heading up a team, please drop us a line at: ghc@gorge.net Our heroes thank you!
Local Distrubution Team - Distribute GHC donation canisters and boots to various businesses throughout our community; then collect the funds periodically during the month.
Requests Team- Fill requests for items that are not normally sent in the monthly care packages. Such as, socks, pillows, batteries, bedding, boots, earbags, extra TLC items, etc. This usually has a quick turn around time and you would have to help find donations to cover the cost of the items, or get the requested items donated if funds are not available.
Crochet & Knit Team - Hand knit or crochet stocking caps for our heroes during the winter months and also knit or crochet baby stocking cap and matching booties for any additions to our heroes families.
Holiday Cheer Team - Plan for and obtain items for our Christmas care packages. Items such as chocolates, holiday themed items or handmade cards from local school children. This team also helps with the set up and take down of the November community holiday care package assembly.
Cards & Letters Team - Design and produce handmade cards for each Hometown Hero to be put inside the monthly care packages. This team will also be responsible for providing special occasion cards as needed. Team Co-Captains are: Daphne Blanchard and Connie Herzig
Baking Team - This team would be responsible for making baked goodies to ship periodically to our Heroes. They would also be in charge of baking items needed for the various fund raisers that GHC does throughout the year such as the Hood River Valley Blossom Festival, Harvest Fair in October and several First Friday’s. Team Captain is Lynn Moore.
Donations Team - This team will work on submitting letters to various companies, corporations, groups and organizations to get funding for GHC. Sample donation letters will be provided, the team works together to set up a data base of contacts and keeps track of the results for accounting purposes and “thank-you” cards.
